just because you can, doesn't mean you should

This is a powerful engineering maxim that I think needs more emphasis.



An illustration of it I saw today was when I downloaded LinuxLiveUsb creator for Windows. There's so much whiz-bang on this UI I was repulsed upon first seeing it.



Don't get me wrong- I love innovative new UIs more than the next guy. But you need to use effects judiciously, not all at once, on full blast, all the time.
