DOM what?

Document Object Model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "the Document Object Model is the way JavaScript sees its containing HTML page and browser state."

Seriously, why don't they have this sentence right at the top of the article?

(or is that why I'm able to edit a wikipedia page?)
